We are a community of women harnessing our collective power to make a real impact.

Founded by longtime friends Meredith McNeill and Margot Phillips, Greater Than launched in June 2019 in Washington, DC. In our first year, fourteen women pooled $30K to invest in state and local candidates. Over the course of 2020, the group identified key values and priority issues to help guide the candidate selection process — culminating in the inaugural four candidates Greater Than supported.

In the years since, our cohorts have expanded nationwide and our investment power has grown to well over a quarter of a million dollars. Our members are women/femmes from all across the country with varying backgrounds and income levels. We create a space where all of our voices are heard and empowered.

Meet our founders

Margot began her career as a Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy after graduating from the United States Naval Academy. After her time in the service, she was a Presidential Management Fellow at the Office of Management and Budget, then the Military Legislative Assistant for Senator Bennet. She's currently Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director at Burton Snowboards. Margot loves to ski, knit, and take pictures of the beautiful scenery in Vermont. Meredith began her career as a middle school teacher in Philadelphia through Teach For America. She has since gone on to work in education policy and execution at the local, state, and federal level. Meredith has degrees from Syracuse University as well as the University of Pennsylvania and lives in Washington, D.C. with her husband and three children. She loves a good cup of coffee.
