Greater Than 11122019-33.jpg

We launched our first Greater Than chapter in June 2019 in Washington, DC. This chapter of women pooled $30K to invest in state and local candidates in summer 2020. Over the course of the year, the chapter identified their key values for candidates to embody and a platform of priority issues, resulting in the selection of the inaugural four Greater Than candidates supported.

About Meredith and Margot

Greater Than was founded by Meredith McNeill and Margot Phillips in the spring of 2019. Meredith and Margot met in 2013 while working for Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO). Even though they came from very different backgrounds - Meredith from education and Margot from the Navy - they hit it off and remained friends even after leaving the Hill. When the need arose to make a difference, Meredith and Margot teamed up to create this unique PAC.

Margot is originally from Rochester, NY and graduated from the United States Naval Academy. She was a Surface Warfare Officer in the US Navy for seven years. After her time in the service, she was a Presidential Management Fellow at the Office of Management and Budget, then the Military Legislative Assistant for Senator Bennet. She's currently Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) advisor. In her free time, Margot loves to ski and knit. She lives in Vermont with her husband, cats, and son.

Meredith began her career as a middle school teacher in Philadelphia through Teach For America. She has since gone on to work in education practice and policy at the local, state, and federal level. She currently provides best-practice research to school districts and independent schools. Meredith has degrees from Syracuse University as well as the University of Pennsylvania and lives in DC with her husband and two children.  She loves a good cup of coffee and is working on growing a green thumb.
